The project takes place in an abandoned railway station. Some of the sheds in the area used to serve to the train logistics and are now buildings with a high potential of rehabilitation.

A big shed of 10 meters wide and 100 meters long is standing on the steep ground.  The trusses, each 3,89 meters, support the roof made of tiles. On the west of the building, we find another building called « the french house ». Those two buildings describe an L on the floor, and in the center of it, there is a big industrial turntable.

Considering those three heterogenous elements, a big part of the new university will be developed underground.

The main idea of this project starts with a deformation of the old building’s trusses where we install suspended volumes. Thoses new volumes offer lateral views on the outer spaces. Thoses elements are covered with "cortene" metal, who interact with the colors of the tiles and the brickwalls.

The frame of the old building is extended in the underground part with a concrete structure.

The university is organised in three parts : the administration (in the french house), the studios (in the old building) and the classrooms and commun spaces in the basement. The industrial turntable becomes a big patio and offers a meeting point to the students.

To bring light in those underground spaces, we designed a lot of patios. Some of them join the natural inclination of the ground and allow to go out of the university and join the river. The ceiling height in the classrooms changes to offer more light and views.

The public space on the roof of the classrooms is accessible and offers a new type of landscape, where the students can relax between two classes.

The ortogonal frame developed from the old shed to the river reflect a willingness of bringing the city of Campana to the river and find an architectural lenguage to this idea.
